Pontifices et familiares
Die Pontifikaljurisprudenz im Licht der juristischen Grundlagenforschung
Tectum, 1. Edition 2025, 282 Pages
Description
Roman law forms the basis of the civil law systems of many European countries. Its moral and functional values are particularly evident in the beginnings of Roman law.
Vera Isabella Langer examines the relationship between law and religion in the pre-classical Roman period on the basis of Franz Wieacker's thesis of pontifical jurisprudence. For the first time, she includes not only the pontifices but also the familiares as actors in her research. The study of religious influences on ancient legal procedures is part of Langer's research focus on the "genesis of procedural law".
