Postkommunismus

The study examines how the upheavals of 1989 are reflected aesthetically. Based on artistic practices—not historical events—it analyzes various methods used to visualize processes of political and social transformation. The starting point is primarily Romanian, post-Yugoslav, and Hungarian works within contemporary art. The concept of the “interval” provides an insightful tool for redefining the political, historiographical, and epistemological upheavals after 1989, which also took place within the history of art and film theory.
