Prähistorische Archäologie

Prehistoric archaeology, or prehistory and early history, deals globally with those periods of human cultural history for which no written sources yet exist. It is a historical discipline that derives its insights from the analysis of the material remains left behind by humans and their cultural artefacts. This textbook provides an overview of the most important types of sources, classification systems, methods and concepts within the field. Particular emphasis is placed on scientific analytical methods and their applications in the cultural-historical interpretation of past societies. The volume is aimed at students of classical studies and archaeology, as well as related disciplines.
