intro: Theologie
Description
When asked for G:ds name, G:d replied: «I Am Who I Am» (Ex 3:14). G:d is therefore present, G:d is close to us and to all of creation, and is in interaction with everything. However, someone who is in relation with everything must also be very flexible, changing others and allowing themselves to be changed. This biblically based conviction of faith in a highly social deity is represented, among others, by process theologies. Classical attributes of G:d such as omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence are re-explored—always with the aim of speaking about G:d in an appropriate, reasonable, contemporary, and understandable way.
This work is intended as an introduction to process theology for an theologically interested audience.
Julia Enxing’s Prozesstheologie moves theology into a startlingly fresh credibility. Her G:d’s Realitätskompatibilität overcomes both deluded certitude and evasive mystery. Enxing instead articulates a dynamic multiplicity of the image of God, expressed in the creative relationality of God and world. Beyond standard omnipotence and far from impotence, her moved and moving deity—ever in love-- never ceases to surprise. Enxing’s Prozesstheologie offers a brilliant introduction to process theology, fine- tuned to the European context, that at the same time contributes to the cosmopolitan future of theology itself.
Catherine Keller. George T. Cobb Professor of Constructive Theology, Drew Theological School, USA
Julia Enxing offers a powerful explanation of perhaps the most important theology for our times: process theology. This book engages key ideas about God and the universe that not only make sense intellectually but also, if applied to our living, can make the world a better place. In these transitional times, we need Enxing's proposals.
Thomas Jay Oord; Author of God Can't!
