(Queere) Femme-ininität in Deutschland

The study reconstructs how “recognising at first glance” results from social orders of knowledge and how belonging is represented or established on the visual level. It works exemplarily in the field of (queer) femme-identity and asks who becomes visible as a (queer) femme and in which contexts. The evaluation of five group discussions and six individual interviews is carried out using the documentary method. The aim is to empirically reconstruct the recognition of social affiliation on a visual level and to decipher the associated knowledge systems. This study is highly compatible with (qualitative) lifestyle and milieu research.
