Recht als Gegenstand der Literatur am Beispiel zweier erzählender Werke der deutschen Nachkriegsliteratur

The field of research known as ‘Law and Literature’ has recently been attracting increasing attention in German-speaking countries as well. In addition to providing a theoretical overview of the current state of research on law and literature and outlining its relevance to legal scholarship, this publication offers the first comprehensive analyses of Wolfgang Koeppen’s novel *Das Treibhaus* (1953) and Peter Schneider’s short story ‘… schon bist du ein Verfassungsfeind’ (1975) from the perspectives of legal scholarship and constitutional history. In particular, the publication highlights the educational value of the two texts for legal studies and brings recent constitutional history to life through an examination of the rearmament debate and the so-called ‘Radikalenerlass’.
