Rechtliche Fragen der Aufbereitung von Medizinprodukten

Reprocessing and reuse of medical devices (in particular of single-use devices) have been the subjects of controversial discussion for many years. Reports continue to come out about an initial application or steps for reprocessing impacting the efficacy of medical devices. There are also reports about hygiene deficiencies. Together with the growing awareness of nosocomial infections in German hospitals, these reports repeatedly bring the issue in the focus of public attention and on the political agenda. It remains contentious whether the reprocessing of single-use medical devices is legitimate.
The author comprehensively analyses the complex legal questions which arise in connection with such reprocessing, giving special focus on potential liability risks.
The author received for her doctoral thesis the Science Award 2015 for Medical Devices Law.
