Religiöse Pluralität in der Anstaltsseelsorge

Religious communities have the right to access prisons as long as their members are in need of spiritual care. How is this right put into practice and what are reactions on religious plurality? Starting from the provision on spiritual care in prisons from Weimarer Reichsverfassung the work analyses how the sixteen German federal states realise the right of spritual care by applying national and federal state law as well as making agreements with religious communities. Cooperation with churches is well-established. All the more new challenges arise from religious plurality in spiritual care in prisons. The work points out those challenges and discusses approaches to enable pluralistic spiritual care in prisons.
