The textbook provides a basic understanding of cultural studies and interdisciplinary approaches to the field of research in religion and art, with a focus on Western modernity and the contemporary scene, including relevant historical and non-European examples. The volume is primarily aimed at students and lecturers in religious studies, art and media studies, and social and cultural anthropology. The thematic focus and case studies have been chosen to discuss methodological and theoretical questions and approaches and to develop a conceptual bridge between history and the present, between different cultures and world views
