Description
This introduction provides information on the central methods of novel analysis. An outline of the history of the genre and an overview of the poetics of the novel are followed by a presentation of the analytical instruments. The main focus is on character analysis, plot analysis, stylistic analysis and narrative analysis. Particular emphasis is placed on the consideration of more recent analytical methods, such as those provided by reading research, cultural sociology, fictionality theory and media studies.
The author has drawn on his many years of experience as a university lecturer to write a comprehensible and useful introduction for students of German studies and other philologies.
