Romantic parasocial interactions and relationships are an essential part of media users’ everyday lives. However, they have rarely been studied up to now. This book aims to redress this gap in research by providing theoretical insights into the definition, development, implications and predictors of romantic parasocial phenomena. It presents three empirical studies on their development and implications, and closes with a detailed discussion of their findings.
