The indexes to the Virchow Edition have gained recognition as an aid to users since their completeness, precision and achievements in abstraction go far beyond the interpretative possibilities which, for example, an automatic search function could provide for a digitised text. This volume contains the indexes of subjects, names and literature, and lists of place-names, geographical names and ethnic names for volumes 1.3. and 1.4 of the diaries (1.3: Oberschlesisches Reisetagebuch 1848 und Dokumente 1846–1856 / 1.4: Aus Würzburg und Spessart: Tagebuch, Personalakten, Briefe 1848–1856).
