Another work on Kierkegaard? Absolutely! How does the human being find a mature self? How is the self constituted despite despair and melancholy? In what philosophical tradition do both states stand and what structures do they exhibit? This monograph addresses these questions by analysing Kierkegaard's The Sickness Unto Death. The author, Moritz René Pretzsch, knows how to explain instructively that the main task of the developing self is not primarily social integration, but rather individual maturation under social conditions.
