Can modern society adapt to terrorist threats without risking its own existence?
Using the example of counterterrorism in the Federal Republic of Germany from 1950–2020, in this study the author examines how society deals with security problems in the modern age: she questions whether this form of counterterrorism is still up to date. Basing her analysis on the theories of non-linear systems, she then discusses how terrorist challenges should be dealt with in order to reduce the negative repercussions of, above all, political decisions on society as a whole. Finally, she suggests alternative counterterrorism strategies.
