Silver-Age, Versorgungsfall oder doch ganz anders?

The topic ‘Healthy Ageing’ is gaining popularity due to the increasing attention given to the demographic change. The scientific and political discourse as well as the discourse in the media, however, does not apply a holistic view to this topic. Not enough attention is given especially to the growing social polarization which leads to increasing poverty in old age. Old-age poverty has been neglected and not been taken seriously in Germany yet, thus it has not consistently been fought against but it has been played down.
This volume outlines the challenges for a just and target group-sensitive health promotion for people in their second half of life. Attention should be given to the fact that the elderly generation is not a homogenous group; therefore it should be looked at differentiating according to situations in life and settings.
