As a guide through the border area of technology and law, the work offers a practice-oriented analysis of the digital transformation of the M&A process through the use of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and distributed ledgers. It highlights both specific potential uses and their efficiency benefits for future transactions involving company assets and shares. In light of the largely lawyer-driven legal environment of corporate transactions and increasing digital regulation, forward-looking digital phenomena (e.g. tokenisation) are classified in existing civil, corporate and capital market law paradigms as well as the challenges that emerge thereby identified.
