Demographic change is associated with new challenges and forms of potential which need to be addressed by society and by social work. However, this requires scientifically based information about the lives of older people, their needs and wishes as well as fundamental knowledge of social work. On the one hand, this book presents theories and empirical findings from social gerontology that are relevant for social work. On the other hand, it explains the theories, principles and methods of social work. Selected topics provide an insight into the practice of social work and illustrate how both disciplinary approaches can be linked with each other.
