The third edition of this volume provides an introductory overview of aspects of sociology that are of particular importance for the theory and practice of social work. It explains the basics for understanding social relationships and presents social science topics that have close links to social work. It focuses on the characteristics of social action and social systems, different social entities and society as a whole, the family as a way of life, phases of life such as childhood, youth and old age, and social inequalities. As a textbook, this volume is aimed primarily at students of social work. The author teaches sociology in courses of study in social work.
