Staatstheorie

The analysis of organised forms of governance lies at the heart of political science research. International developments have long shown the growing relevance of the concept of the state. To understand political systems, they must be contextualised historically. To this end, this book presents considerations from political theory and intellectual history on the foundations and potential of the concept of the state in the context of legitimation, freedom and sovereignty. At the same time, however, the key contemporary threats to the destruction of political order are also discussed: essentialisation, culturalisation and depoliticisation.
