The dissertation addresses the need for reform of the German health insurance system, which is coming under increasing pressure due to demographic change and rising costs. It focuses on health-conscious behaviour and digital care processes as decisive stabilisation factors of the dual system. The economic analysis shows that these approaches can significantly improve the efficiency and sustainability of statutory health insurance and private health insurance. The principles of health insurance and data protection law set the framework for the implementation of these innovative approaches. The insights gained open up new scientific perspectives and formulate concise recommendations for policy and practice.
