Subjekt und Psychoanalyse

The study bridges the gap bewtween Paul Ricœur’s and Jacques Lacan’s interpretations of Freudian psychoanalysis by relating both to dialectical models of reflexive self-consciousness. Both authors conceive of subjectivity as mediated through the Other. While Ricœur, inspired by Fichte’s dialectic, aims at a a reflexive appropriation of the Other by the self, in Lacan’s Hegelian dialectic the reflexive moment is dissipated in the ecstatic reference to the Other. This dialectical interpretation allows for a new comparative perspective on Ricœur’s hermeneutic as well as Lacan’s structuralist interpretation of psychoanalysis.
