Social workers are the largest professional group in the field of addiction care and prevention and the social dimension is considered a significant influencing factor in dealing with the phenomenon of addiction. So far, however, there is no scientifically based textbook that explicitly examines the social dimension of addiction but also develops concrete action strategies explicitly based on social work theory and specifies them for different fields of action (e.g. addiction counselling service, low-threshold help, addiction prevention). This teaching book aims to fill this gap and thus contribute to the further professionalisation of social work in this field.

The authors research and teach in the field of theories, concepts and methods of social work and social work in addiction support.
