Sueton

The book offers a modern, compact presentation of the life and work of the Roman author Suetonius. With his biographies of the Roman emperors from Caesar to Domitian, Suetonius created a work that ranks among the outstanding sources for the history of the Roman imperial period. He described the careers and deeds of the emperors in a way—stylistically and in content—that his audience enjoyed reading and listening to. In this respect, he was more contemporary than many other authors who treated the imperial period historiographically. Even in later periods Suetonius remained a well-read and frequently read author.
