What is human being and what is his position in Being? Max Scheler asked this question right up to the end of his life. After his sudden death, not only did his philosophy remain unfinished, but also the question remained unanswered. From his open philosophy, however, the unity of the human being can be deduced, precisely as an open unity, i.e. the human being as Becoming-Being, in that the human being as a microcosmos constantly participates in the world process as a macrocosmos. This image of human opens up an open world in which true and eternal friendship is possible, as long as people are capable of philosophising with each other according to their way of being. The friendship that characterises man in the cosmos is already inscribed in the word philosophia and moves us human beings to the eternal attempt to constantly gain a new part in the Absolute Being.
