Temporary labour migration can be an important way of managing migration, particularly for low-skilled workers who have only very limited opportunities to immigrate to Germany. This applies, for example, to migration from West Africa. The work therefore examines the legal possibilities of temporary labour migration at an international, european and national level. Against the background of previous experiences with temporary labour migration programmes such as guest work, in a further step existing human rights challenges are analysed and institutional aspects such as the organisation of the migration process and, in particular, return are addressed.
