Description
In view of a changing global landscape, the European Union—as a values- and rules-based federal union—faces major challenges. At the same time, its 'polycrisis' and enlargement are jeopardizing its ability to act. In this regard, the book advocates a transformation of the EU's architecture and working methods toward a model that is based on 'doing less, more efficiently and flexibly.' Based on this premise, the book combines an overview of the state of the European Union and its key policies with an analysis of current challenges and practical reform proposals. Designed as a textbook and handbook, it also draws on the author’s practical experience as a legal advisor to the strategy team of the President of the Commission from 2015 to 2019.
