Description
The aim of this book is to provide the English-speaking public interested in philosophy, history of philosophy, (especially in German idealism) a one-book summary of Hegel's view on Protestantism, which is also the explication of his philosophical development, in the context of the wider problem of religion which determined the evolution of his early system.
The book does not only reconstruct Hegel’s view on Protestantism, but also his philosophical evolution. The book unites historical and philosophical perspectives, Hegel’s theoretical beginnings in the context of religion necessitate a survey of the historical context of his ideas and research. Furthermore the relevant methodical problems get ample attention in the text too. The book places itself on the border between the historical interest in Hegel’s philosophy, and the systematical interest, which is peculiar of German research.
