This study offers a close reading of the narrative strategies employed by „The Wire“, a crime series of five seasons, which in addition portrays a precise analysis of contemporary American society. By exploring the individual film frame, the characters, and its narrative structure, the study illuminates the show’s complex content. For its great thematic scope, sociologists, political scholars, and media scholars have studied “The Wire”. In this case, the approach is based on film studies and hermeneutics. The study unfolds in three thematic areas, ‚aesthetics’, ‚narrative structures’ and ‚starting points for interpretation’.
