Description
Everyday and aesthetic communication processes, especially those of today, are characterised by the use of different means of expression: In films, operas, comics, advertising communications and many more, the linguistic parts interact with images, moving images, music and other acoustic elements, possibly also with olfactory and tactile means. What effects this interaction of expressive forms can have on interlingual and inter-semiotic translation is the subject of this volume. In two larger sections - Translation between Verbality and Pictoriality and Translation between Verbality and Musicality - the authors devote themselves to translational action that goes beyond language and allows the translator to emerge as a truly creative bridge-builder between cultures, but also between communication systems.
