The doctrines of virtue elaborated by Thomas Aquinas and Meister Eckhart, which used to be prominent in medieval Europe, are often disregarded today. This is unfortunate since the thoughts of these two theologians are highly illuminating for many discussions in virtue ethics today. This book presents pivotal passages from Thomas’s and Eckhart’s works, both in their original language and in new or revised German translations. Both approaches are examined in detail, compared to each other and discussed in relation to modern perspectives by renowned experts in the field.
