Historische Grundlagen der Moderne
Description
The millionfold street protests against the threat posed by new intermediate-range nuclear missiles were characteristic of Western Europe in the early 1980s. Most notably, Christian groups supported a movement that criticised the arms race and that networked transnationally in a new way. Using the examples of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and the Federal Republic of Germany, this study analyses the main stages of the peace movement chronologically and shows the dynamic processes of transnationalisation and the characteristic of transnationality within the Christian community. The networks, the connections and the differences within the movement are retraced in detail by using extensive source materials.
