Über Menschenbilder

It has been proven that images of humans influence our perceptions, our thoughts and our actions and are therefore of almost incalculable importance for our social coexistence. This book therefore asks what images we—as with prejudices, unintentionally as it were—create of other people and of ourselves. These images can be positive—as in the extreme case of heroic images—but predominantly they are intended to somehow label OTHERS. The book focuses on the use of images of humans as arguments in socio-political discourse: if you look at current political debates, whether about migrants or the long-term unemployed, SUV drivers or those who think differently, you quickly see how commonplace the use of images of humans is—whether for better or worse.
