Überbewertung mit Ansage? Zur Bewertungspraxis von versuchten Tötungsdelikten im Land Bremen

In 2018, the police and the public prosecutor's office in Bremen announced a tougher approach to violent crimes, which caused a lot of discussion across the region. This interdisciplinary study uses corresponding criminal case files to comprehensively illuminate the causes and motives for the (deliberate) overvaluation of violent crimes and explains the mechanisms of this practice using the available criminological and psychological approaches. On this basis, it vividly problematises the political and sociological explosiveness of this new approach motivated by general prevention and shows its ineffectiveness in the fight against alleged homicides.
