Studien zur Kritischen Theorie
Description
Adorno's philosophy is influenced by his engagement with Husserl's phenomenology to a far greater extent than previously assumed. For the first time in monographic form, Till Seidemann undertakes a comprehensive reconstruction of Adorno's reception of Husserl and shows that he was concerned with far more than a mere critique of phenomenology. Rather, in his engagement with Husserl, Adorno attempts to realize the actual program of his philosophy: the overcoming of idealism towards an undogmatic materialism. In doing so, Adorno integrates certain phenomenological motifs into his own philosophy. His negative dialectic can ultimately be seen as an attempt to fulfill Husserl's claim ‘To the things themselves’.
