UNESCO-Weltdokumentenerbe in der Kulturellen Bildung

The personal copies of ‘Children’s and Household Tales’ by the Brothers Grimm, which are kept in Kassel, are part of UNESCO’s Memory of the World Programme and, thus, the globally recognised cultural memory. Moreover, there are storytelling traditions throughout the entire world, which makes them an ideal starting point for communication and understanding on an equal level. To this end, the pilot scheme ERZÄHL MIR DEINE GESCHICHTE/N (TELL ME YOUR STORY/-IES) has developed multifaceted teaching and artistic materials through a narrative approach which enables reciprocal storytelling that transcends language and cultural barriers. This publication presents that project and places it in the contexts of participation, education, World Heritage Education and cultural policy developments.
