Verfassungsrechtliche Kontinuitäten im Land Oldenburg

The book provides an extensive description of the constitutional law of the free-state Oldenburg. In a comparative perspective both to the Weimar constitution and the other german states Oldenburg is a particularly interesting object to study, not only concerning the constitutional structures, which were characterised by a extraordinarily strong position of the governing Staatsministerium, but also with regard to the political developments. Different to the German Reich Oldenburg was from 1923 on governed by an ‚unpolitical’ cabinet of functionaries, not politicians. Besides that, Oldenburg was the first german state under a nationalsocialist government from 1923 on. In this respect the development in Oldenburg preceded the similar events in Berlin.
From a more recent point of view the book is concluded by an analysis of the effects that the constitutional law of Oldenburg still has today regarding the law in force on denominational public schools in Lower Saxony.
