Virtuelle Gegenstände im digitalen Schuldrecht

Virtual goods form the foundation of an emerging metaverse economy. This book examines how the new digital contract law shapes their provision and explores the contractual, copyright, and data law issues that arise. At its core are six key requirements—functionality, availability, accessibility, transferability, deliverability, and security—analyzed in light of digital contract law (§§ 327 et seq. BGB), the Data Act, and copyright law. The study thus contributes to the systematic classification of virtual goods and provides legal scholars, researchers, and practitioners with well-founded insights into the legal foundations of the digital markets of the metaverse
