Which basic types of interpreting crises can be identified in media discourse across different crises? To answer this question, the authors start with defining their term of crisis, then they thoroughly discuss communication studies on crises, crisis journalism and crisis coverage, afterwards they outline their construct of media interpreting crises. Along journalistic commentaries on different crises the authors‘ empirical study identifies seven basic types of media interpreting crises which are embedded in the state of research. Moreover, their additional value and theoretical compatibility are discussed. The book ends with considerations on follow-up studies.
