Wilderei von Großwild in Afrika

Poaching of big game in Africa is an issue that is discussed politically and socially primarily from the perspective of species conservation. Less prominent in this debate, however, are the diverse characteristics, causes, and effects associated with this criminal phenomenon at the intersection of ecology and economics. This study therefore presents an approach to examining the aforementioned issue from a criminological perspective, drawing on historical, legal, statistical, phenomenological, etiological-theoretical and victimological perspectives. Based on this systematic understanding, the study concludes by identifying promising repressive and preventive measures to reduce the phenomenon.
