Wir haben lebenslänglich

When people become victims of crime, it changes their lives profoundly. In the Ruhr area, a region characterised by social and economic challenges, crime often becomes an additional burden that reinforces existing inequalities. But while perpetrators are often at the centre of media and social attention, the victims usually remain invisible. They are often even re-victimised - through protracted court cases, social exclusion or stigmatisation as ‘the victim’ in their environment.
This volume captures the perspectives of victims of crime and sheds light on phenomena that are too rarely heard and recognised. It shows the complex effects of crime on an individual, social and legal level and opens up new perspectives and paths for victim protection.
