The care infrastructure for the rural population is less dense than in large cities and is often inadequate. In view of demographic and economic change and the requirements of ecological transformation, services of general interest, and with them social work, are faced with particular problems in rural areas. Living conditions in rural areas are very different and there are also new opportunities for rural development.
