Stefan Schubert offers an in-depth analysis of professional wrestling as a unique hybrid genre of sport, drama and media spectacle. He demonstrates how wrestling, as an intercultural global theater, creates cultural myths at the boundary between reality and fiction, inviting audiences to engage consciously and playfully with staging and deception. The author examines theatrical bodily performance within an inter- and transmedial narrative. Additionally, he critically challenges the long-dominant masculine self-image of wrestling from a feminist perspective. The research field connects literary, theater, and media studies with cultural science approaches.
