Demands for dignity seem omnipresent in the context of nursing care. Most of the time, it is negative headlines that point to abuses and the need for action. Between staff shortages and time pressure, nursing staff are called upon in their daily work to create and ensure dignity in these contexts, whereby their own dignity often comes under pressure.
This book makes the implicit omnipresence of dignity issues explicit. Using the case of a full-time nursing home, it highlights the everyday problems related to dignity as well as the diverse and sometimes contradictory strategies for working on the dignity of those being cared for, but also on one's own dignity.
