Yoga im Strafvollzug

This first German-language study of yoga in prison comprehensively and interdisciplinarily bundles essential findings about a widespread and yet little-known measure in the penal system. Against the background of the promising international state of research and yoga-theoretical assumptions, the question of the effectiveness of prison yoga is placed in the context of desistance research. A nationwide inventory and a longitudinal questionnaire survey in North Rhine-Westphalian prisons provide first-time data on yoga classes in the German prison system as well as perspectives and numerous suggestions for further scientific discussion and for a systematic expansion of existing yoga classes in German prisons.
