Zur Konzeptionalisierung europäischer Desintegration

Since the outbreak of the global financial and economic crisis European integration cannot be understood (anymore) as a continuously evolving process. Despite countless EU integration measures, economic, social and territorial disintegration phenomena can be observed in Europe. It is too early to judge whether the current crisis is just another crisis, which–as earlier stagnation phases of the integration process–will act as a catalyst for the further development of the European Union. However, the crisis gives sufficient reason to think fundamentally about the relation between integrating and disintegrating forces in the integration process. The volume, therefore, considers with regard to various theories some dimensions of the integration process that are neglected in traditional integration theories. Disintegration is thereby seen as in integral component of the integration process.
