Zur Zukunft des Mercosur

By using suitable legal criteria the author identifies six models of regional state integration systems and therewith enriches the theory of public international law with its own tool for the study of regional state integration systems. Hence, legal scholars are not limited to revert to categories of political sciences or economics. The typology is then applied to the currently most dynamic state integration system of Latin America – the Mercosur. The identification of the model attributable to that system is preceded by an analysis of its current state of affairs. On the basis of that analysis and additional observations on the constitutions of the member states, the study givs a perspective of Mercosur’s possible future development.
