For the sustainable transformation of the housing sector, it is essential to examine heating in private households. But what role does everyday heating play in private households, and how is it integrated into daily life? These questions are explored through the analysis of quantitative survey data, with a focus on heating in private households. The findings reveal that, on the one hand, heating is essential, yet on the other, it is integrated into daily life in a completely incidental manner, which can make change difficult. Nevertheless, energy-saving and sufficiency strategies are also becoming apparent, some of which are already being implemented in households or could conceivably be implemented.
