Description
Everyday morality presents itself as a pre-given order that differentiates the moral from the immoral without being reduced to a system of norms. It manifests as a dynamic, practice-oriented order characterized by constitutive grey zones that cannot be adequately grasped either by a cosmological, total order or by a fundamental order of moral principle. Central to this account is the dynamic of the order between the ordinary and the extraordinary, as well as the positivity of order understood as a process of demarcation, selection and exclusion. Using a phenomenological approach, the emergence, stabilization and transformation of moral orders are reconstructed, thereby providing a foundation for a previously underexplored perspective of morality.
