Description
The music collection of the Zwickau Ratsschulbibliothek is one of the most important historical music collections in Central Germany. This study is the first to offer an overview of the collection's approximately 300 early modern music manuscripts from the perspective of musicology and library history. With the inclusion of numerous hitherto unknown sources, the author focuses on important players in the cultivation of music in Central Germany during the Reformation, who, under the influence of humanism and polyhistorism, contributed significantly to the creation and specific character of numerous manuscripts. A catalogue with detailed descriptions of all manuscripts completes the volume.
