Description
The registration of Nazi-looted art in the „Lost Art-Database“ as „Nazi-confiscated art“ is of crucial importance for finding „just and fair solutions“ between its current owners and the descendants of those persecuted by the Nazis. At the same time, the operating mode of the Lost Art-Database has been subject to constant criticism from the outset. This has led to decisions by the Federal Administrative Court, the Federal Court of Justice, and most recently the Federal Constitutional Court on the legality of its registration practices. Christian Hüttemann has taken this as an opportunity to undertake a comprehensive legal analysis of the Lost Art-Database in its 25th year of existence and to develop proposals for its reform.
